The Polymer Technology Group Offers High-Quality, Contract Manufacturing Services for Medical Devices
Berkeley, CA - February 1, 2003 - The Polymer Technology Group, Inc., (PTG), well recognized for manufacturing biostable and biocompatible polyurethanes and silicone-urethane copolymers for the medical device industry, additionally offers high quality contract manufacturing services for the medical device industry. The combined experience allows us to enable our clients to develop and manufacture materials-intensive Class I, II or III devices where material selection is critical to performance. PTG has experience with applications ranging from surgical gloves to blood-, tissue-, and bone-contacting devices.
PTG can assist with many phases of the device development process, from materials selection through pilot-scale manufacturing, and offers support during the regulatory process as well. In particular, PTG has extensive experience developing and fabricating implantable components for use in prosthetic spinal devices, vascular grafts and stents, cardiac assist devices, pacemaker and neurostimulation leads, specialty balloons and probe catheters and biodegradable polymer implants.
Using state of the art CAD technology for designing components, jigs and tools, PTG offers flexible modeling and high quality production of prototypes to meet client project timelines. Throughout the fabrication process, testing and inspection are performed using test parameters and quality standards that are specifically tailored for each application. Our laboratories, pilot plant, and manufacturing facilities are compliant with all applicable Quality System regulations and include lot traceability for raw materials and processes from start to finish.
Robert Ward, who is a recognized pioneer in the field of biomaterials and the company's CEO, founded the Polymer Technology Group in 1989. PTG specializes in the research, development, scale-up, and manufacture of new polymers, medical devices, and components. PTG's commercial product portfolio includes two of the world's most extensively tested biomaterials in clinical use today, BioSpan® segmented polyurethane and Bionate® polycarbonate urethane. In addition, PTG offers Elasthane™ polyether urethane, as well as custom-fabricated components from our patented PurSil® silicone polyether urethane and CarboSil® silicone polycarbonate urethane. PTG's 32,000 square-foot facility houses the equipment and expertise to support production-scale polymer synthesis through contract medical device manufacturing.
